GW Information Technology provides access to a variety of software and business applications for GW students, faculty and staff. These services allow GW community members to securely access applications and content while on and off campus.
The software and business apps listed below are available to all students at the George Washington University.

Adobe Express Premium is a powerful, cloud-based application that streamlines access to popular Adobe features that make creating amazing designs fast and easy. Express brings the power and precision of Adobe to a web and mobile app that makes creating amazing designs fast and easy. Note: You must use your @gwu.edu email to take advantage of the GW license. Virtual Private Network (VPN) |
The VPN allows remote access to many university systems and resources that are otherwise protected from off-campus access. It does this by creating a "virtual" encrypted channel from your remote location back to GW's network. The Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client is being replaced with the Palo Alto GlobalProtect VPN Client. AnyConnect will be retired on August 8, 2023. |

With ArcGIS Pro, you can explore, visualize, and analyze data; create 2D maps and 3D scenes; and share work to ArcGIS Online. ArcGIS Online is a collaborative web-based GIS that allows you to use, create, and share maps, scenes, apps, layers, analytics, and data. Both ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online are available to GW students, faculty, and staff on university-owned and personal devices. Atlas.ti helps researchers uncover and systematically analyze complex phenomena hidden in unstructured data (text, multimedia, geospatial). Request atlas.ti from GW IT.
Autodesk
A computer-aided drafting software program used to create blueprints for buildings, bridges, and computer chips, among other things. Discover how AutoCAD is used by drafters and other professionals. How to access Autodesk software.
ENVI 5
ENVI (an acronym for "ENvironment for Visualizing Images") is a software application used to process and analyze geospatial imagery. Request ENVI from GW IT.

Maple 18
Maple is math software that combines the world’s most powerful math engine with an interface that makes it extremely easy to analyze, explore, visualize, and solve mathematical problems. Request Maple from GW IT.
Wolfram Mathematica
A symbolic mathematical computation program, sometimes called a computer algebra program, used in many scientific, engineering, mathematical, and computing fields. How to access Wolfram Mathematica.

Microsoft Imagine
The Microsoft Imagine subscription provides access to Microsoft software that is used for technical education. The subscription includes a variety of designer and developer tools and servers and applications.
Oracle Academy
The Oracle Academy subscription includes access to a variety of Oracle products.
VMWare
The VMWare subscription includes access to most VMWare products including Fusion, ESX and VMWare training material.
Wolfram Mathematica
Since GW added Wolfram|Alpha Pro subscription in the summer 2013, all faculty and students within GWU are now able to use this software.
Qualtrics
This software was added in the summer of 2015, and all faculty and students within SEAS now have access.
Tecplot
SEAS has added Tecplot subscription in early 2014, and now all faculty and students within SEAS are now able to use this software.
Autodesk
SEAS was granted three years of free educational licenses through the AutodeskAcademic Resource Center resulting in access to the AutoCAD for Mac and the complete Education Master Suite and the Entertainment Creation Suite.
Multisim
All faculty and students within SEAS are now able to use Multisim on their personal machines. Please follow these instructions for the download information.
Labview
All faculty and students within SEAS are now able to use Labview on their personal machines, please contact us for the serial number information.
