Alumni Account Benefits
After graduation, your GW account will transition to an Alumni account. Alumni can maintain access to their GW account and @gwmail.gwu.edu email address.
GW Alumni accounts, including @law.gwu.edu accounts, must remain active to access GW resources.
- To keep your account active, log in to your GW email account at least once per year.
- Accounts not accessed for 12 months will become inactive. If still inactive after 18 months, the account will be deleted.
Checking your GW email using a third party email application, like Outlook or Google Mobile App, and forwarding your GW email to another email account does not count as an active login.
As your account transitions to an alumni status, you will lose access to certain tools that were previously available to you as a student, such as Adobe and Office 365. After one year, your Google Drive and calendar content will be removed. You will need to back up or transfer ownership of any data you wish to keep that is currently stored on your GW Google Drive to another storage location.
