Endpoint Protection
Beginning July 2026, GW IT is upgrading the security software on all GW-managed devices as part of our ongoing efforts to keep the university’s systems and data safe. We are transitioning to SentinelOne, from Cisco Secure Endpoint
Get Started
GW IT managed devices are issued with endpoint protection software installed.
Features
Endpoint protection software monitors your computer for malicious software and malicious behavior. When a potential threat is detected, the system takes immediate action, first attempting to block the threat, and if needed, isolating the device from the network to prevent spread while the issue is investigated and resolved. Real-time detection helps protect your computer from malicious software, allowing your work to go uninterrupted by threat actors.
SentinelOne’s managed detection and response service monitors for malicious behavior 24 hours per day 365 days per year, and coordinates response with GW IT.
GW IT recommends the following antivirus protection for personal devices:
- Windows OS: Personal devices should utilize the pre-installed Microsoft Defender Antivirus software.
- macOS: Personal devices should utilize the pre-installed XProtect.
