CyberSafe Travel
While you’re taking a break or vacation, cyberattackers remain hard at work trying to compromise your data. Join the GW IT cybersecurity risk and assurance team for an overview of precautions and practices to maintain and enhance cybersecurity while traveling. Topics in this Cyber Talk will include securing your devices, connecting to WiFi networks, special considerations when traveling internationally, and more.
This session is designed for all levels of technical knowledge and open to the entire GW community.

Join the GW IT Cybersecurity Risk and Assurance team for review of Cybersecurity precautions you can take to protect yourself and your family at home.
Cyberattackers are always looking for targets whether at home, school, or work. In this session, participants will learn about topics and techniques to secure your own and your family’s data and devices. Topics will include home networks, parental controls, web filtering, and password managers among other topics.
Lock It Down – Easy Steps to Secure Your Mobile Device
In today’s digital world, your smartphone is more than just a communication tool—it’s your wallet, your photo album, your ID, and your gateway to the internet. But how secure is it?
“Lock It Down” is a beginner-friendly, Cyber Talk designed to empower everyday users with practical, easy-to-follow steps to protect their mobile devices from common threats. Whether you're using an iPhone or an Android device, this session will walk you through essential settings and habits that can dramatically improve your digital safety.
This session is designed for all levels of technical knowledge and open to the entire GW community.
Cyber Talk – Phishing / Social Engineering@GW
Join the GW IT Cybersecurity Risk and Assurance team for a Cyber Talk reviewing Phishing / Social Engineering@GW.
Social engineering is defined as the art of exploiting human psychology, rather than technical hacking techniques, to gain access to buildings, systems, or data. Social Engineering attacks are conducted using various methods that involve an attacker sending messages or otherwise contacting potential victims or targets. Participants in this Cyber Talk will learn more details about how cyber attackers manipulate victims into making poor choices that enable direct and indirect criminal activity. Recognition of these methods and defensive actions will also be reviewed.

Memorizing passwords for the multitude of accounts and services we use is not possible. Recognizing this issue, the Cybersecurity Risk and Assurance team of GW IT Security is presenting a Cyber Talk on password managers as a solution to effective password management.
In this interactive session, you will learn about the importance of maintaining unique and complex passwords for online services. Password manager benefits and features will be reviewed to assist your selection and use of these tools. Finally, you will learn about the threats of password compromises.
