Ranya Sharp
As the Finance Director for GW Information Technology, Ranya Sharp supports the university’s technology organization through strategic financial planning, budget management, forecasting, reporting, vendor contract support, strategic resource allocation, and project finance oversight. In this role, she works closely with university leadership, campus partners, university finance teams, procurement, human resources, and the budget office to help ensure that technology investments align with institutional priorities and deliver meaningful value for the university’s teaching, learning, research, and operational missions.
With 26 years of professional experience, including 20 years in higher education at the George Washington University, Ranya brings a deep understanding of university financial operations and the role of technology in supporting institutional success. Over the past 11 years supporting financial operations within GW Information Technology, she has contributed to major initiatives including cloud migration, financial planning, ERP and Banner related projects, cost savings efforts, process improvements, vendor negotiations, and broader efforts to strengthen operational efficiency and financial transparency.
Ranya’s leadership approach is collaborative, detail oriented, and grounded in strategic thinking. She is recognized for her analytical skills, close attention to detail, and ability to support complex financial decisions across a dynamic technology environment. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Management Studies from the University of Maryland Global Campus and an MBA from the George Washington University.
