Brian Ensor is an experienced IT executive with proven expertise in providing high-quality solutions and managing the effective use of IT services and investments to cost-effectively deliver the business strategy. He has worked both nationally and internationally on supporting academic, research and administrative needs and has enhanced skills in such fields as IT strategy, program and project management, enterprise IT architecture, service development and management, conflict resolution and business process improvement. Prior to his current role at the George Washington University, he served as the head of research and architecture solutions at the National University of Ireland, Galway.
In his current role, Mr. Ensor oversees the Division of IT's Office of Planning and Strategic Initiatives, which combines architecture, project management, business analysis and research services. He has lead his team through the introduction of evolving practices around portfolio management, establishing enterprise architecture principles and practices, and growing the alignment of service roadmaps with the capital planning and investment process. Through increased engagement, maturing of internal consulting capabilities, more targeted governance models and better alignment of vision with execution, his office has increased their support for the successful execution of prioritized initiatives aligned with the University’s strategic plan. Additionally, he established a specialized unit focused on the delivery of shared research service infrastructure to a high performance computing environment, custom regulated data service capabilities and regional services through the Capital Area Advanced Research and Education Network.
Mr. Ensor holds a bachelor's degree in computer and information science from the University of Maryland University College, a master's degree in information assurance from Norwich University and several professional certifications in project management, information security and enterprise architecture.
