Brian Ensor is an experienced IT executive with more than 20 years of expertise in providing high-quality solutions and managing the effective use of IT services and investments to cost-effectively deliver the business strategy. He has worked both nationally and internationally on supporting academic, research and administrative needs and has enhanced skills in such fields as IT strategy, program and project management, enterprise IT architecture, service development and management, conflict resolution and business process improvement. Prior to joining the George Washington University in 2011, he served as the head of research and architecture solutions at the National University of Ireland, Galway.

In his current role as AVP of Architecture, Engineering and Research, Brian oversees GW Information Technology’s enterprise architecture along with campus and regional shared infrastructure services including the Systems Engineering Services, Communications and Enterprise Networking Services, Research Technology Services and the Capital Area Advanced Research and Education Network – CAAREN areas. Through increased engagement, maturing of internal consulting capabilities, more targeted governance models and better alignment of vision with execution, his office has increased its support for the successful execution of prioritized initiatives aligned with the University’s strategic plan.  

Additionally, he helped establish a specialized unit focused on the delivery of shared research service infrastructure to include a high-performance computing environment, custom regulated data service capabilities and regional services through the Capital Area Advanced Research and Education Network.

Brian holds a bachelor's degree in computer and information science from the University of Maryland University College, a master's degree in information assurance from Norwich University and several professional certifications in project management, information security and enterprise architecture.
