Accounts

GW students, faculty, staff, alumni and affiliates use a variety of accounts to access GW systems and resources. These accounts help protect and control access to several services and online tools, such as email and calendar, administrative records, course and registration information and financial and benefit data. Account specifications and processes vary based on your role at the university.

GWeb Information System

The GWeb Information System, sometimes referred to as Banner or Banner Self Service, allows online access to GW student services, such as registering for classes, viewing student accounts, viewing grades and accepting financial aid.  Students are assigned a GWeb account and pin when they have been accepted and signified their intent to attend GW, by paying a deposit. Faculty and staff are assigned a GWeb account and pin as part of the Human Resources hiring and intake process.

To log into GWeb, you must use your GWid, which is an alphanumeric value used to identify an individual’s records within GW’s administrative systems. Your GWid is the letter G followed by an 8-digit number. You must also use a PIN, which is usually a 6-digit number, to log in to the GWeb Information System. If you have forgotten your GWid, you may submit a GWid retrieval request.

Endowment Tracking System

The Endowment Tracking System (ETS) is used to track and monitor individual endowment funds that comprise GW's pooled and separately managed endowment vehicles.

Where the Enterprise Accounting System (EAS) General Ledger (GL) tracks endowment data at a high level, ETS serves as a sub-ledger.  The ETS integrates with EAS, Ellucian Advance gift data, and Banner student receivables data.  The ETS holds detailed endowment information and automates the allocation of investments to each fund.  This information is sent to the EAS GL through an interface.

Access to the ETS can be requested through the System, Analytics & Insights Group (SAIG) in the Finance Division.
