The Division of IT provides select software licenses to students, faculty and staff. Learn more about how to access these services below. 

Microsoft Office 365

The Division of Information Technology (IT) provides Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus at no cost to all current GW students, faculty and staff. Use Office 365 to install full versions of popular Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel and Powerpoint on up to 5 PCs or Macs (Windows 7 or Mac OS X 10.6 or later required) and up to 5 mobile devices such as iPad/iPhone, Android and Windows devices. 

Microsoft Office Online is also available to create, store, share and collaborate on documents, spreadsheets and presentations. In addition, 1TB of OneDrive storage is provided. 

Access Office 365

Use your full GW email address and corresponding GW NetID password to login. 

Please note: Continued access to Office 365 once your affiliation with GW ends will require a subscription to Office 365 through Microsoft.

Symantec Endpoint Protection

Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) is used for antivirus protection. 

Software Licensing Overview

Software licenses are provided to staff and faulty for the following applications for use on university machines only. To obtain any of the applications below, click on the provided link or contact your Local Support Partner (LSP). If you do not have an LSP, contact the IT Support Center by calling (202) 994-GWIT (4948), submitting a tech service request, or emailing ithelp@gwu.edu

Costs:
At this time, there are no costs for utilization of these software licenses. However, onsite application support and computer support will be billed based on the current IT hourly rate of $60/hour. 

Responsibilities:

  1. Distribution
    All software is licensed to the George Washington University.  Application downloads, media and license keys, if applicable, should not be shared outside The George Washington University.  
  2. Support
    Application support can be obtained by contacting your LSP or the IT Support Center.

Adobe Acrobat

Full time GW faculty and staff are eligible to use Adobe Acrobat for their Portable Document Format (PDF) needs.  Other Adobe product licenses can be purchased from CDW-G through the iBuy website. These licenses will need to be renewed at an annual subscription rate specified at the time of purchase.

Cisco VPN Client

​The Cisco VPN Client allows remote access to university systems and resources.

Lumension Endpoint Management and Security Suite

The Lumension Endpoint Management and Security Suite provides security and management of endpoint devices.

Microsoft Office Suite

To start using Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus through the George Washington University, log in to https://portal.office.com using your full GW email address and corresponding GW NetID password.

Remedy

Remedy is a workflow and tracking service used by the Division of IT.  For access to Remedy, please contact the IT Support Center at 202-994-GWIT (4948).

Colleges and Schools

Columbian College of Arts and Science (CCAS) 
The Office of Technology Services at the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences administers the Microsoft Select License Agreement and Adobe Continuing License Program for Columbian faculty and staff on behalf of the Division of IT. 

School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS) 
The Computing Facility at the School of Engineering and Applied Science manages numerous network licenses, which enables faculty and students to share concurrent licenses for various applications.

Academic Technologies

Academic Technologies Instructional Technology Lab
The Instructional Technology Lab (ITL) distributes Statistical Analysis System software (SAS) to GW faculty members, students, and staff for academic and research purposes.
