In observance of National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM), the Division of IT will host a series of events this October to educate the GW community on the importance of cyber security.

Week 1 – STOP. THINK. CONNECT.: The Basic Steps to Online Safety and Security

Test Your Cybersecurity Awareness!

Join the Division of IT in the Marvin Center lobby and test your IT security knowledge. Learn about our IT security resources, how to stay safe online and protect your identity. Giveaways will be available for those that can answer our IT security quiz correctly! 

Ransomware: What is it? How to avoid it? How to protect your data?

Ransomware is a type of malicious software that encrypts a user's personal files on an infected computer, making these files inaccessible until a sum of money is paid. Attend this session to learn how you can avoid a ransomware attack, and steps you can take to better protect your devices, as well as data within GW.

Week 2 – From the Break Room to the Boardroom: Creating a Culture of Cybersecurity in the Workplace

Week 3 – Recognizing and Combating Cybercrime
