I tried to create a Net ID, but got an error message

There could be several reasons for receiving an error message when creating a NetID. 

Incoming Students

  • Please note that you have to wait 2 business days After your online student portal reflects that your letter of intent and enrollment deposit have been processed before attempting to claim your NetID.  
  • Attempting to claim your NetID immediately after submitting the enrollment letter or the deposit will generate the following error:  We were unable to locate an account matching the information you provided.  Please attempt the claim 2 business days after your deposit is processed and not after it's submitted.
  • If you are still receiving this error several days after completing your requirements, please check your online portal for the status and then contact your School's Admissions office for further assistance to confirm the accuracy of the information or to confirm that all requirements have been met.

Other reasons

  • Your date of birth or last name is incorrect in the GWeb Information System. Contact your respective office (see below) to verify your date of birth and the exact spelling of your last name, especially if you have a two-part last name .
    • Incoming Students - contact your School's Admission office or program.  
    • Faculty - contact your Faculty Affairs Office
    • Staff - contact your HR Client Partner
  • You have requested confidentiality through the Office of the Registrar or Human Resources.
  • You are not eligible for a NetID because you are not affiliated yet with the University. Please allow at least one business day after you receive confirmation of your affiliation from your HR Office, Faculty Affairs or Admissions that you are ready to claim your NetID. If you are still receiving this error, please reach out to the aforementioned offices accordingly.
  • You entered an incorrect GWid. Make sure you are using a Capital "G" and the 8 digit GWID number.
