How to Navigate the GWeb Information System

The GWeb Information System is used by students, faculty and staff.

To access this application, visit https://banweb.gwu.edu. This will take you to a page asking for a GWID number and a pin. The "G" is always capitalized when accessing this application.

Students

If you are logging in for the first time as a STUDENT, your default pin is your date of birth in the six digit format: MMDDYY.

Once you click login, you will receive a prompt relative to the expiration of your pin. Simply re-enter you date of birth and create a new six digit pin, all letters, all numbers, or a mixture of the two. The next step you will be asked to setup the security question. The answer is not case sensitive.

NOTE:  Although secret questions are not case sensitive, punctuation and spaces are. We also recommend avoiding the use of dates since there are so many ways to write a date format. This can be problematic later when trying to recall the answer to the question.

Student usage: Class registration, dropping classes, making tuition payments, apply mfor refunds, designating an authorized user to make payments, view grades posted by professors, retrieve transcript information,  update personal informatoion, and post alert notification information

Faculty and Staff

If you are logging in for the first time as a FACULTY/STAFF member, you must to contact the IT Support Center in order to have your information verified. Alternatively, new faculty and staff may also go to the Faculty and Staff Services Center located at 2121 I "Eye" Street, NW Washington D.C., where walk-up support is available between 8am and 5pm.

After verifing your information, an analyst will provide you with a temporary security question and answer. After accessing the application, you can create the security question of you choice by clicking the heading of "Personal Information Menu" and selecting the option to change your security question.

Faculty usage:  Set up your payroll direct deposit information, post grades for students, process your W4 tax form, request to have your W2 form delivered electrically, process a conflict of interest form, view pay information, update personal information, and and post alert notification information

Staff usage: Set up your payroll direct deposit information, process your W4 tax form, request to have your W2 form delivered electrically, process a conflict of interest form, view pay information, update personal information, and and post alert notification information
