08.19.02 Operations Meeting Notes

A Security Incident is an action that violates a University policy and state or federal law on a computer resource owned or operated by The George Washington University.  Computer Security Incidents include identity fraud, password theft, phone tapping, software piracy, spamming, unauthorized access to data, and releasing a virus, worm or other program that damages the network.


Report an Incident  


To report a security incident, please contact the Information Security Office at abuse@gwu.edu.  Include the following information:


- IDs or identifying information of persons involved

- Supporting information related to the incident.

- Names of persons involved

- Date and time of the incident


Most importantly, do not delete or destroy any supporting information or documentation that may be needed as evidence.  The Information Security Office will take appropriate action to investigate and mitigate risks associated with computer security incidents.
