Banner
Banner is a fully integrated software solution developed by SunGard Higher Education and used by the University to manage its business operations. The Banner system supports and manages admissions, registration, accounts receivable, financial aid, payroll and human resources data. Additionally, Banner includes a self-service feature, GWeb, which allows students, faculty, advisors and staff to access University services online in order to conduct business conveniently.
Cable Television
The Division of IT provides high quality digital cable TV services to the GW community, including basic cable, premium channels, and 20 GW channels with specialized GW content. The Division of IT provides service, installation, maintenance, and set top boxes as part of the basic service. Premium services such as HDTV are also available by request.
Computer Support
Enhanced computer support services are available for faculty and staff workstations on a contractual basis for University departments, units, or divisions, ensuring a stable and reliable computing environment. This service includes complete setup and technical support of a typical functional office environment. Additionally, specialized support tools can be used - in some cases remotely - to provide support, correct problems, and maintain software.
Data Warehousing
Data Warehousing stores data to support the University's decision-making and reporting needs.
Directory Services Administration (LDAP)
LDAP is a service that queries, authenticates, and authorizes access into GW resources.
Domain Name System and Services (DNS)
DNS assigns domain names to all websites throughout the University web presence.
Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP)
DHCP is a protocol used by GW for assigning dynamic IP addresses to devices on a network. This allows a device to have a different IP address every time it connects to the network.
EBilling (Evision Form Fusion) System
An electronic bill presentment system that provides web-based access to student bills.
Email (GWMail and Colonial Mail)
GWMail is GW's email system that provides email to all students, staff, faculty, departments and student clubs or organizations. GWMail can be accessed through the Web or by utilizing a personal computer based email application. GWMail accounts (usernames) are based on GW NetID (username@gwu.edu).
Endowment Tracking System (ETS)
ETS tracks GW's detailed endowment activity and integrates with EAS.
Enterprise Accounting System (EAS)
EAS is used to conduct every facet of University business, from accounting to the University's financial transactions, processing all requests for purchases, and allowing the financial management of sponsored research grants.
ERoom
ERoom is an enterprise-level document collaboration environment. The application provides a customizable workspace that enables distributed teams to work together efficiently.
Faculty and Student Hire Workflow Applications
Automated workflow applications that support faculty and student employment processes at GW. These applications include the process for online initiation and approval of part-time faculty and temporary and work-student student hires. This application is the result of the collaboration of the Division of IT, university faculty personnel, Student Employment Services, Human Resource Services and other stakeholders throughout the university.
File and Print Sharing (Novell Services)
The Division of IT provides support for centralized Windows and Novell file and print services, enabling departments around the University to easily collaborate, store files, and print to networked printers.
FSA Atlas
FSA Atlas is a Web-based foreign student case management application used by the International Services Office to meet US Citizenship and Immigration Services documentation requirements.
GRC
University's Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) Application for Financial Applications.
GWApp
GWApp is GW’s automated system used to resolve multiple personal identification numbers.
GW Data Marts
GW Data Marts are web-based reporting tools that utilize the IBM Cognos suite software tools. The application allows users to run reports on Banner data. Currently, there are Data Marts for both the Student System and Student Accounts module of Banner.
GWdocuments
GWdocuments is GW’s enterprise document management tool and repository that provides University departments with the capability to store and retrieve documents in a consistent format while providing the flexibility necessary for each department to meet its individual business requirements. It allows for the same overall look and feel across GW while providing each department with the capability to select their own folder structure, index attributes and naming convention.
GWscan
GWscan is GW’s
Harvest Version Control Application
A tool used by the Division of IT to govern a continuous flow of complex changes to the application source code delivered by GW vendors as well as any custom applications developed by GW.
iBuy
iBuy is the University self-service procurement application. The Division of IT is responsible for the integrations between iBuy and EAS, which ensure the correct person or department is billed for his/her purchase.
Kronos
Kronos is GW’s workforce time management system for automated time and attendance tracking. The application uses computer and telephone clock in/out to record hours worked and leave taken.
myGW Portal
The myGW portal is a centralized University website that offers a broad array of resources and services, such as email, forums, search engines and direct links to University services. It serves as a centralized location for many staff and faculty business applications that service daily financial and personnel transactions. It also acts as a central repository for University news, department information and access to Banner.
Networking, Data Communications, Utilities, Access
The Division of IT is responsible for the provision and maintenance of both physical wires connecting network ports as well as the communication protocols connecting computers to local resources and to the wider internet.
Networking services include wall ports, standard and high-speed physical connections, wireless and remote connections and other custom connection configurations. Networking will also coordinate the behind-the-scenes technology required for system connections including security features, system redundancy requirements, application load balancing and provisions for secure remote administrative connections using VPN technology.
Nolij Transfer
Nolij Transfer is the application used by GW to match, review and upload all types of electronic information into the GW Banner database. It allows for the automated data entry of information extracted from hand-printed paper forms (recruitment cards), web forms (applications), text files (CollegeNet, ApplyYourself), other electronic media (SAT, ACT, AP, GRE) and many other data formats. This application is widely used across the administrative departments.
Nolij Web
Nolij Web is a document imaging and decision support solution that integrates with Banner and other enterprise applications. It is used by Undergraduate Admissions and Student Financial Assistance. The application allows its users to scan and electronically file documents into a document repository.
Oracle E-Business Suite
This service supports Oracle Financials and other licensed components.
Paybase (Check Printing System)
Paybase is the University check printing system. This is a PC-based system that prints checks from electronic files for both the payroll and supply chain departments.
Personal Account Management Console (AMC)
The AMC is an online portal used by account managers on a daily basis to organize their personal email, information, and other communications.
Residential Management System (RMS)
RMS is a web-based application used by GW Housing Programs to manage GW’s complete Housing operation.
Resource 25, Schedule 25
Resource 25 is a system used for academic and event scheduling to manage spaces, classes, events and resources.
Server Administration and Management
The Division of IT performs server and database setup, management and maintenance services.
Stipend Management Application (SMA)
SMA is a custom, web-based application that is integrated with both Banner and EAS. The application provides an automated workflow to ensure that stipend payments are approved by the correct individuals.
Studio Abroad
Studio Abroad is the software solution used by The Office for Study Abroad to provide information to students, staff, administrators and parents regarding study abroad programs.
This service provides an electronic portal to manage banner and its modules.
The installation, maintenance and support of voice and data connections, voicemail, long distance dialing and telephone repair.
Transcript Express System
Students and alumni who have a GWID and PIN can request official transcripts online through the GWeb Information System.
Travel and Expense Application
The travel & expense application is used to submit online travel and expense reports.
UAT Tool
UAT is a custom software for tracking user acceptance status of the Division of IT software projects.
University Web Services
Web support and custom Web application development is for GW. Within the Division of IT, University Web Services (UWS) works in partnership with stakeholders across the University to evaluate the online needs of internal and external audiences, prioritize project requests against the University’s strategic goals and objectives and schedule Web work in alignment with the University cycle.
